Ms. Mary Gannon Kaufmann, BCC, M.A., M.S. RD, is  Board Certified as a Catholic Chaplain through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. During the day, she works as a Chaplain and a Dietitian at MercyCare Diabetes Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

As Director of Incarnate Institute, she hopes to provide retreats that empower ordinary people to live the ordinary moments with supernatural perspectives in order to become Saints. Life happens so she desires to assist individuals, parishes and pastoral staffs at hospitals to adjust to change and life losses. In support of this aim, she has completed a Certificate in Death and Grief Studies with Dr. Allan Wolfelt, Ph.D. through the Center for Loss and Life Transitions in Fort Collins, CO.

She also holds  a  post-graduate certificate in Spiritual Direction and Retreats from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, a Masters in Theology from Loras College in Dubuque, IA and a Masters in Nutrition from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. She and John live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with her husband, Deacon John Kaufmann, near their six young adult children. Prior to directing Incarnate Institute, Mary taught nationally on charisms or spiritual gifts with the  Catherine of Siena Institute in Colorado Springs, CO.

John Kaufmann, B.S., M.S., is a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Dubuque assigned to St. Matthews Parish in Cedar Rapids, IA. He has a passion for sharing the power of the Gospel and the beauty of the Catholic Faith.

During the day he develops software for custom applications at Genova Technology where he seeks to infuse his work and interactions with others with the loving presence of God. He has a practical approach to family life from parenting and now appreciating the lives of their six young adult kids who range in age from 20 to 31 years.

Our Mission

The purpose of Incarnate Institute is to promote healing in the lives of others and assist them in growing spiritually. Our hope is to inspire healthy grieving when individuals experience loss or life transition through change and death. We develop and present online resources, live conferences, retreats, missions, and talks that are consistent with Catholic teaching but also touching to inter-faith audiences.
